Sunlight is transformative. It has the ability to change the experience of a space, as well as how we live, feel and relate to one another. We brought our Australian affinity for natural light and open-plan living to Butterfly House, a typically dark East London townhouse, while retaining its classic English details. Removing walls on the first floor allowed for an open and light-filled living, dining and kitchen area, and freestanding elements contribute to a seamless space and unobstructed sight lines. The distinctive butterfly roof in the bedrooms and bathrooms has been accentuated and new skylights installed to increase natural light.
