Industrial Designer

Opportunity for an Industrial Designer with 2+ years hands-on experience in a design studio. We are looking for an all-rounder with a passion for design, problem solving and detailing. You will be assisting the studio in the design and documentation of interior elements and products; developing specifications, product development, design documentation, 3D-modelling and prototyping as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering projects from concept through to manufacture
  • Assist and contribute to the delivery of projects on time, to budget and specification detail
  • Sourcing and specifying materials, finishes, furnishings and fittings
  • General product design development
  • Documentation including but not limited to concept design, design development, modelling, preparation of presentations, design details, updates to drawing registries and drawing revisions
  • Support and work directly with the project team to deliver projects to the standard of the studio

Required Experience

  • 2+ years in a similar role within a design studio or manufacturing business
  • Relevant recognised industrial design degree education
  • Experience with manufacture and prototyping
  • Able to work closely with the project team and lead designer
  • Good understanding of the design manufacture process
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of materials and production detailing
  • Experience in joinery and furniture production desired

  • Proficiency in 3D modelling using Autodesk Inventor, Rhino or Revit programs
  • Basic AutoCAD understanding

  • Passion for design trends and aesthetics
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign
  • Microsoft Office proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Great work ethic and a desire to deliver beyond expectation
