Finance Manager

Biasol is in an exciting stage of growth and we are actively seeking our next finance all-rounder. The Finance Manager role requires that you bring proven business acumen, coupled with strong sense of financial management experience to help our studio deliver beyond expectation.

As a professional and experienced member of the management and finance team within our studio, your day-to-day duties will involve ensuring all financial aspects of the business are aligned for growth, profitability analysis, cash flow forecasting and general studio and accounting duties.

This opportunity is ideal for a Big 4 first mover who is seeking a hands-on role that involves building out a finance team from the ground up.

This Finance Manager opportunity will be hands-on and strategic in nature and will involve interacting with clients, suppliers and external consultants. The role requires your attention to detail, organisational skills, and your ability to manage all finance related tasks with a tactical and considerate approach. You will help drive projects both locally and internationally from a financial perspective and ensure that all deliverables are completed in a timely and profitable manner; subsequently facilitating a healthy cash flow for the business.

  • Manage and lead all business finances
  • Manage client relations and drive financial aspects of project delivery
  • Manage all accounting processes including payroll, company tax returns, all balance sheet balances (including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, depreciated, fixed assets, working capital) and all profit and loss items
  • Complete all month end and financial year end reconciliations, staff expense payments, superannuation, Workcover and PAYG withholding.
  • Manage the preparation and review of all secondary taxation returns including GST, BAS and FBT in accordance with required lodgement dates
  • Generate accurate and complete management financial statements of position and performance for the business
  • Actively manage the business’ cash position and debtor/creditor control function
  • Review and analyse monthly balance sheet reconciliations for short and long term cash flow forecasts
  • Budget preparation, management and reconciliation with consideration to team expenditure budgets reconciled against accounts payable
  • Complete all compliance and financial reporting requirements to best practice
  • Assist in the creation of fee proposals and contracts
  • Assist in general business and lead development
  • Overseeing the month end reporting timetable, preparation of the financial result and the integrity of financial records
  • Working with the team in relation to their invoiced and forecasted and projected billable hours
  • Assess and documenting current accounting processes and policies to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls and reduce time and costs
  • Develop financial strategy and processes aligned to business strategy, including but not limited to risk minimisation, operational budgets and financial targets to enable business scalability
  • Responsible for meeting all corporate, legal and financial requirements
  • Support the team with financial projections and budgeting as required

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in commerce and/or the accounting profession for a small to medium business
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying internal control weaknesses
  • Implementation of financial processes and systems for better efficiencies
  • Demonstrated experience working as a Financial Controller, in professional services or consulting
  • Cash flow and budget management on projects
  • Financial reporting and month/end year
  • Financial forecasting and strategic analysis
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in relation to the business
  • Has an ability to exercise sound judgment and leadership in management decisions
  • Be able to work and communicate clearly with the team on finance related project expectations

Required Skills & Attributes

  • You must be a qualified accountant (CA/CPA)
  • Degree qualified (Bachelor of Business/Commerce/Accounting) and a membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or CPA Australia
  • General knowledge of employee taxes and workcover, superannuation, Fair Work Act compliance and employment related legal matters
  • Experienced in the use of Xero online accounting software
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Strong technical skill-set particularly in accounting software and excel
  • Highly analytical approach and ability to think and operate at a strategic level
  • Highly disciplined and organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator with an ability to liaise confidently to the team, clients and suppliers
  • Be able to work autonomously as required
  • Possess a resilient and positive “can do” attitude
